PSALM 51:16-17
16 You do not want sacrifices, or I would offer them;you are not pleased with burnt offerings. 17 My sacrifice is a humble spirit, O God; you will not reject a humble and repentant heart.
The external things we might do to please God mean nothing to him if our hearts are not right with him. He wants us to seek him in humility and with penitent hearts. Bring those things to him and you will find him.
